My name is Larry Kelsey. I have been in this industry since 1987.
I started professionally retail consulting in 2010 as I shut down my retail locations in good order. I came to the conclusion to seek this line of work as a profession for the following reason. In 2003, with the security of income from my retail stores, I started a repping company, a work I found most enjoyable. While on the road and servicing accounts, cleaning up territories, and expanding sales, I found myself giving advice and having my advice solicited in regards to every possible retail and manufacturing scenario I could imagine. If not knowing the answer, I realized that I had the resources of my many years of involvement in this industry and the talent to find the answer. It was most rewarding to see my advice implemented and to see the financial success associated with my advice.
I concluded that consulting is the combination of trust, knowledge, positive attitude and being able to look at the situation without bias. There are enough “yes” men out there. Sometimes you just need a second pair of eyes and words of truth to ensure your place in the market and adapt to industry changes.
